‘The Maze Runner’ Debuts At #1, Sequel Greenlit For 2015

The Maze Runner has had one intense opening weekend.

The film adaptation, starring Teen Wolf hunk Dylan O’Brien, raked in $32.5 million and easily claimed its spot as #1 at the box office, and you know what that means:

Here comes the sequel!

Fox has wasted no time, already committing to another movie in the franchise, which is based on James Dashner’s young adult novels.

The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials will follow the plot of Dashner’s second novel, and opens in theaters September 18, 2015.

Liam Neeson’s A Walk Among the Tombstones debuted at just below Maze Runner, at #2.
