The Most Wonderful Time Eyes Some Serious Star Power v2

Shelby Arnold

Staff Writer

Stepmom screenwriter Steven Rogers and director Jessie Nelson is giving Relativity media a reason to be in good spirits this holiday season.

The feel good Christmas comedy The Most Wonderful Time is in “various stages of negotiations” with it’s gaggle of big name Hollywood stars.

Diane Keaton and Alan Arkin are on tap to play characters Charlotte and Sam who are heading for a divorce. Before they head their separate ways, they invite their children and their families over for a Christmas weekend and find that maybe some things are worth fighting for.

Back in February of 2012, Robert Redford was tied to the role of Sam but has since been dropped from the line up. Added to the star power is Amanda Seyfried (who starred in Les Miserable), Annette Benning and, more recently, Theo James who will star in March’s dystopian film Divergent.

None of the castings seem to be confirmed.

It seems though that Arkin and Keaton are closer to closing the deal than their younger counterparts. Relativity is pushing for a 2014 completion date so expect more casting confirmations and news to come. No release date has been set for the comedy.

Arkin next stars in WB’s Grudge Match and Disney’s Million Dollar Arm. Bening has Dan Fogelman’s Imagine and Michel Hazanavicius’ The Search on the horizon.

Seyfried is also in high demand, with Seth MacFarlane’s comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, Noah Baumbach’s While We’re Young and the Russell Crowe movie Fathers and Daughters coming soon.
