There’s no way you haven’t watched The Notebook at least once in your life, even if your beloved forced you to. The film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ well-known novel has been a tear-bringer for a while now, so why not turn it into a franchise and make people cry on a regular basis with a television series adaptation?
Almost a decade after the film’s release, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, The Notebook is about to find new life on the small screen. Apparently, The CW has a series adaptation in the works and Nicholas Sparks himself is actually on board! The official press release reads:
This series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie, at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina.
Produced and penned by Todd Graff, Nicholas Sparks has teamed up with Warner Bros. to executive produce The Notebook television series alongside Theresa Park. The show is currently in development at The CW, so we have yet to find out if the network picks it up.
