Kate O’Mara is itching to be a villainess again.
The now 74-year-old actress played the Rani in Doctor Who during the 1980s, and has recently revealed that she’s still interested in the role.
She spoke to Digital Spy while promoting An Evening With Kate O’Mara, a special event honoring her accomplishments over the years.
“I would love to come back…I’m still very glamorous and so I won’t disappoint, I hope! I’ll still be wearing the tight leather trousers and high-heel boots, regardless of what age!” she said.
According to O’Mara, TV shows nowadays are geared to the younger generation. People her age can’t relate to the characters.
Having her reprise her role as the Rani would give the older generation someone to watch and relate to.
“If you remember things like Grimm’s Fairytales, the older woman is often the villainess…why I do not know, but often she is. I think it’s an idea to be exploited,” she explained.
An Evening with Kate O’Mara will be at The Misty Moon Gallery in London on October 19.
O’Mara will also make an appearance for more than 15,000 Whovians at the Doctor Who 50th Celebration Weekend.
The convention’s host, BBC Worldwide, has described it as “an opportunity for fans around the world to come together and celebrate the glorious past, present, and future of Doctor Who.”
It begins on November 22 at the ExCeL London Convention Center.
