NBC is starting to announce the cast for their live production of The Sound of Music, and they’ve added a vampire to the mix.

True Blood’s Stephen Moyer has been cast as Capt. Georg Von Trapp, a single father of seven dealing with the burgeoning threat World War II.

The musical follows Maria (Carrie Underwood), a postulant who leaves her abbey to be a governess for the Von Trapp family. She soon finds herself falling in love with the Captain.

The Sound of Music features music from Rodgers and Hammerstein and won the Tony for Best Musical in 1959, while the movie version staring Julie Andrews won the Oscar for Best Picture.

This is not Moyer’s first run on stage; he did a run of Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl portraying Billy Flynn. The actor also graduated from London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He’s performed with different theater companies including The Royal Shakespeare Company.

The live, three-hour televised performance will air on NBC December 5.
