There aren’t many miniseries that I get excited about. Like giddy can’t contain myself excited. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are a producing a six-episode miniseries entitled The Spoils of Babylon. The series is a spoof on melodramas much like The Thorn Birds. The series has been picked up by the Independent Film Channel (IFC) but has yet to have a premier date.

In addition to producing, Ferrell will also star in The Spoils of Babylon as ficitional author Eric Jonrosh. Jonrosh’s muse is a wealthy family, the Morehouse’s who drama makes for great material. Tobey Maguire has just signed on to play the adopted son of the Morehouse patriarch, Jonas. Playing Jonas’s biological daughter will be the always hilarious Kristin Wiig.

It seems that things get a bit incestuous in the Morehouse family, as the plot centers on Wigg and Maguire’s lust for each other while trying to spearhead the family business. In addition to playing Eric Jonrosh, Ferrell will take on the role of the Shah of Iran.

What makes this project even more LOL worthy is the script is being written by Saturday Night Live writer Andrew Steele. Keep an eye on PopWrapped for information on the premiere date for The Spoils of Babylon!
