Not only is Jennifer Lee the first female director at Walt Disney Animation Studios, and the director of Disney’s biggest hit, she also seems to be the most ambitious. Lee has announced that she will be adapting the classic children’s book A Wrinkle In Time for Disney.
For now, it seems Lee will only serve as the writer for the film, but it is a passion project for her, as she claims it is one of her favorite childhood books.
A Wrinkle In Time tells the story of three children – Meg, Charles and Calvin – who travel through time to find their scientist father. It was published in 1962, and was written by Madeleine L’Engle, whose books combined childlike adventures combined with science fiction and fantasy, making her pioneer in the realm of young adult fiction.
The film is set to be produced by James Whitaker, who has produced several films such as American Gangster, Robin Hood and the similarly toned The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
