Be prepared, fans of The Walking Dead…one of the darkest shows on television is set to get even more sinister!
Like the comic book series, the remaining episodes of the fourth season will be tonally much darker than the already bleak series we’ve come to know over the past four years. The man behind the creation of The Walking Dead comic book series, Robert Kirkman, was asked about if the rest of the fourth season would match the comics in showing the characters in a darker light. Kirkman replied by saying: “The rest of Season 4 starts February 9, and it gets pretty dark. I guess the answer is ‘yes.’” He added by saying: “But just how far we go and what we do and stuff, you’ll just have to watch. But I will say that the show will continue to get a little bit bleak at times and a little bit darker as the world progresses, and as things get a little bit more dire as they have in the comic. So we’re not going to be pulling any punches, and there’s a lot of stuff coming up that AMC is very worried about, which makes me happy.”
Executive producer Greg Nicotero also mentioned a potentially darker season at a Walking Dead fan convention in November. He said: “This season is a lot darker than we’ve gone in the past. The first episode where everything’s kind of, you know, the prison’s going on fine. They’ve got a community, and things seem to be working out. You know when Michonne jokes with Rick, and Carol calls Daryl ‘pookie,’ and he goes ‘pffth’ and all that. Those moments were there for a reason, because now that the crap has hit the fan, it’s a little harder. This season is definitely darker.”
So be prepared, Walker Stalkers because in case you didn’t think this show was dark enough already, it is about to get much much darker and bleaker…
