The Wanted Tease Two Possible Albums In 2014, Plus A “Slick” Rita Ora Collaboration

The Wanted plan to give fans exactly what they want in the New Year…new music!

Band member Siva Kaneswaran reveals to Digital Spy that, not one, but two albums are in the works for a 2014 release. What could be better, right? And, yes; we realize the group just released their third LP, Word Of Mouth last week. Which, by the way, bowed on the Billboard 200 at no. 9 — not too shabby for the boys from the UK, huh?

“We’re straight back to work on the next album in the New Year,” Kaneswaran says, noting the creation process might be a tad different this time around. “This one will be coming out a lot faster.”

He continues, “There may even be two albums next year. We’ve recorded so many songs that we really love but didn’t fit this album.”

In addition to new original tracks, the band boasts a “huge” collaboration with Rita Ora that might make one of the records. Kaneswaran explains, “It’s literally The Wanted and Rita Ora’s sounds mashed together,” he explained. “It’s got a slick, American vibe to it. It’s hard to describe, but it’s got a huge chorus and I think would have a massive impact.”

“I remember when we were recording it in the studio and we were all getting very angry and passionate about it,” he adds.

Color us intrigued!

As fans know all too well, Word Of Mouth was a long time coming. “We spent a lot of time mastering this album and it took us ages to get it out. The fans had to wait ages. We put it back and put it back to the point where we’ve released it on the busiest week of the year!”

While the recently released record showcases the boys’ fun-loving side, it also tackles some pretty heartfelt issues. “There’s a lot of personal stuff on these songs, relationships, breakups, being away from home type of things,” Tom Parker told MTV News last week. “I think it shines through. I think it’s a lot more musical this album as well. We wanted to make it a bit more band-y, and a bit more guitar-y and live strings in there. So hopefully we achieved it.”

After a near two-year wait, Parker adds, “It feels really good. Two years in the making, so there’s a little bit of relief that it’s finally out there for people to enjoy.”
