Matt Smith, who played The Doctor for the last four years, said he has ‘pondered’ the decision to move on.
“I’ve pondered it and I’ve thought I’ve made a huge mistake. It has transformed my career” the actor told The Wrap. “It has been wonderful for my life and my family’s life”.
We’ll still get to see the 11th Doctor in two more episodes before his departure. Smith will appear in the show’s 50th anniversary special before his final episode airs at Christmas.
“I feel proud to be part of such a wonderful legacy of actors. The 50th anniversary will honor the ones before me. Then, the show will get bigger and better. People will forget me”.
As if we could ever forget you!
His on-screen companion Jenna Coleman told Digital Spy at SDCC that the final episode of the 11th Doctor is “great and fitting”.
Don’t miss Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary special on November 23rd!
