It’s here and definitely been worth the wait. The much anticipated Only Lovers Left Alive trailer has hit the web.
Only Lovers Left Alive, written and directed by the critically acclaimed Jim Jarmusch (Dead Man, Broken Flowers, Limits of Control) takes place against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangier and follows an underground musician, played by Thor’s Tom Hiddleton, deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, who reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover, played by Oscar winner Tilda Swinton.
Their eternal love story has endured several centuries at least, but their debauched hedonistic idyll is disrupted by her wild and uncontrollable younger sister. Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt, and Anton Yelchin also star in the film which premiered at Cannes earlier this year.
The film also headlined the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival recently, though Sony Pictures Classics has yet to announce a release date.
Earlier this year, Hiddleston gave some insight about the elusive film in an interview. “The vampire thing is really a way of exploring immortality. And the question is, if you were immortal, how might that change your commitment to each other, between two people? So really the film is about love in the end, and time and our creative power,” the British thespian shared.
