Title And Poster Revealed For ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel

The much-anticipated sequel to the dinosaur smash hit Jurassic World has just dropped its official title… and poster!

Holy Brachiosaurus! According to The Independent, the official title has just been announced for next summer’s sequel to Jurassic World (2015). It will be called: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018). Obviously much speculation was made on what the title for this film might be, much like the current Star Wars episodes we are getting now. Many thought since “Park” was changed to “World” that “World” might change again into something else, i.e. “Jurassic ___________” (fill in the blank). Of course, the filmmakers have already made clear that Jurassic World, while the fourth in the Jurassic Park series overall, was going to be the first of a new trilogy of movies, so it’s only fitting that it stays quite similar and related to the last film. Does the “fallen kingdom” refer to the park kingdom that collapsed in the last film, or the fallen kingdom of the actual dinosaur population? Or perhaps even the kingdom of man itself? I’m betting on the dinos themselves.

A poster was dropped as well, and it looks amazing. Not much has changed with the logo, but unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, it looks as though some type of dinosaur with a yellow eye is hiding in the mist of the bottom right hand corner? Maybe? Maybe not. It looks like there is some sort of chaotic activity occurring in the background with either lights, sparks, sniper laser sights, or all of the above, hidden by smoke, mist, or fog. This is also just the first poster, so there will be many more to come. What really makes this poster exciting is the tagline on the bottom which reads: “Life Finds a Way.” This of course is a throwback to Dr. Ian Malcolm’s (Jeff Goldblum) very words in the first Jurassic Park (1993), which were echoed again by Mr. John Hammond himself (Richard Attenborough) at the conclusion of the second film, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). This is fitting since Jeff Goldblum was recently announced to return to the franchise in this upcoming sequel; we haven’t seen him in this universe since The Lost World, although a brief hidden Easter Egg nod was given to him in Jurassic World with a copy of his book that is seen, “God Creates Dinosaurs.”

I absolutely loved Jurassic World, a nostalgic tribute to the original film while still feeling like its own movie and an action-packed, worthy sequel to the franchise. We can’t wait to see what happens next. From where the last film ended, it looks like Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) among many others will be trying to round up all of those cute little critters that got away from the park on the island.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is being directed by J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls (2016), The Impossible (2012)) with producer Frank Marshall and executive producers Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow (director of the first Jurassic World), and will see the returning cast of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong, the most recently announced Jeff Goldblum, and of course the Tyrannosaurus Rex herself. Michael Giacchino will be back to compose the musical score with the familiar, iconic themes by John Williams. The film will stampede into theaters almost a year to the day next summer on June 22, 2018.

Are you excited to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom? What do you think of the title? Do you like the poster and/or the tagline?
