Notorious high school killer T.J. Lane–infamous for his murder of three high school students, Daniel Parmertor, 16, Demetrius Hewlin, 16, and Russell King, Jr., 17, in 2012, for which he is serving three lifetime sentences–broke out of the Allen Oakwood Correctional Facility late Thursday (September 11), along with two other prisoners, by scaling the facility’s fence.
Thankfully, he was recaptured and put back in prison early today (September 12) a mere 100 yards outside of the facility’s fence, thanks to the police quickly establishing a perimeter around the area.
His fellow escapees, Lindsey Bruce and Clifford Opperud, were also recaptured, though at different times. Lindsey Bruce was convicted of killing a 5-year-old Columbus-area girl back in 2004, while Clifford Opperud was serving a 15-year prison sentence on convictions of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and kidnapping. Bruce was found in a church not far from the facility, while Opperud was found by police dogs.
All three escapees are now in custody.
The investigation as to how the prisoners escaped is still ongoing.
