Who Do You Think You Are? takes celebrities on a journey through their history, discovering little known fact about their family tree and helps them find out exactly who they are. “I’m on this journey because I have watched my father be in a lot of pain of not knowing who he is,” said this season’s participant Christina Applegate.

The series which started in Britain in 2004, was adapted for American television by Friends alum, Lisa Kudrow and writer Dan Bucatinsky. The series was cancelled by NBC a year ago before being picked up by TLC for a new season, “I’ve never stopped hearing about how much people love Who Do You Think You Are?, and I’ve always known that we’ve had more great stories to share,” said Kudrow.

The series launches on TLC on July 23; don’t miss it!
