Santelmann has been cast as Rhesus, a revolutionary barbarian that will play the antagonist to Johnson’s hero.

Other stars who have signed on to the project include Joseph Fiennes, Rebecca Ferguson, Ian McShane, and John Hurt.

Based upon The Thracian Wars and The Knives of Kush- comics released by Radical Publishing- this carnation of Hercules will be more realistic in that it will not be based upon mythology, but rather will portray the hero as an ageing and jaded mercenary.

The Thracian Wars is set for release on July 25, 2014.
