Britain Olympic diving star Tom Daley has teamed up with Greenwich Leisure Limited to launch a brand-new diving academy in London. The goal is to find the next set of diving stars. According to Daley, the diving Academy will be held at the London Aquatics Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where the champion himself trained for and won himself a bronze medal at the Olympic Games.
As if that wasn’t enough, the bronze medallist has revealed that Tom Daley Diving courses will be available in multiple leisure centres nation-wide. In an interview with BBC Sport, the 19 year old said: “Hopefully it can inspire the next generation of divers because we’ve got amazing facilities in London – we just need to utilise them with kids coming in.”
He also told the BBC about his hopes for the academy, saying that “It’s my aim that in 10 years’ time, they are the ones that are on top of the diving board and hopefully on top of the podium.”
Just call him the new Simon Cowell of diving!
