Leave it to Toronto mayor Rob Ford to make an embarrassment out of his city once again.
The ridiculed Ford made headlines once again this week, as he ordered that the Pride Flag be taken down at Toronto City Hall.
The flag was hoisted by the city to show solidarity with the LGBT community in Russia during the Olympics.
Almost immediately after the flag going up, the mayor put up the Canadian flag in a window of his office, and then spoke with reporters:
“This is about being patriotic to your country. This is not about someone’s sexual preference. No I do not agree with putting up the rainbow flag. We should put our Canadian flag up. I put my Canadian flag up in the window,” he said.
Ford’s actions came on the heels of him stating that, once again, he would not be attending Pride this year.
It also happens to be World Pride in Toronto, which is expected to bring millions of dollars of revenue for the city.
Ford also, for the first time, admitted just why he has never attended Pride in previous years.
He would always make the public statement that it landed during his time at his cottage with family, but this year stated: “I’ve never gone to a Pride parade. So I’m not going to change the way I am.”

Homophobic?
Ford eventually lost in his fight to have the flag removed.
Nobody at this point should be surprised at anything this man does, but I do personally find it extremely hurtful that he would negate such a powerful moment for Toronto.
Hosting World Pride will be a huge success for the city, and as for the flag at City Hall: He truly showed his homophobia and ignorance.
All of this comes after months of the mayor battling both the media and his city.
He has made a habit of staying in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, most recently being caught on a cellphone video drunk & disorderly in a restaurant.
