While Orlando’s tallest roller coaster won’t open until sometime in 2017, we already have an idea as to what it will feel like to ride the Skyscraper.
A new video detailing the track design and a ride-through of the coaster was released today during the IAAPA Expo in Orlando. The video shows the coaster taking off from inside the Skyplex before making its way up the observation tower over 500 feet above International Drive.
“We’re extremely excited about creating a record-breaking, must-try attraction on International Drive,” said Joshua Wallack, Mango’s Tropical Café chief operating officer and developer of the new Skyplex Entertainment Complex on International Drive.
The new Skyscraper polercoaster will tower above International Drive at 570 feet and wrap itself around a central tower giving riders a spectacular view from the top.
The Skyplex complex will be at the corner of Sand Lake road and International Drive on the land previously occupied by Fun ‘n Wheels. Construction is set to start early next year with the complex and roller coaster opening in 2017.
