What happens when Christian Bale gives up black rubber for shaggy hair and an accent? Out Of The Furnace, that’s what! The new trailer was released today for The Dark Knight actor’s newest project. It looks incredible.

Russell Baze’s (Bale) brother, Rodney (Casey Affleck), returns from active duty only to end up in the center of a backwoods crime ring. Baze battles gang-leader Curtis DeGroat (played by the incomparable Woody Harrelson) in an attempt to rescue his brother against “the people up in those hills” who have their “own breed of justice.”

The cast is just too good to be true boasting such big names as Forest Whitaker, Sam Shepard, Zoe Saldana playing Bale’s girlfriend, and one of my all-time favorites, Willem Dafoe.

The trailer teases with scenes that range from romantic and tender, to happy and somewhat hopeful, to desperate and destroyed. It is all topped off with a beautiful display of action. Pearl Jam’s  “Release” provides the perfect soundtrack for the compelling trailer.

Check it out for yourself and see if you agree with me!
