The sequel to the 2016 South Korean zombie film Train To Busan titled Peninsula is slated for an August 2020 release date. U.S. fans of the original film will be glad to know that this time around, the film will be released in theaters in the U.S. No more waiting months for it to be released digitally.
Sequel confirmed to take place four years after the events in Train To Busan.
Director Yeon Sang-Ho has confirmed that it will take place in the same setting and environment as the first movie. However, it is unlikely that we will be seeing the same cast of characters, for obvious reasons. Without spoiling the original movie too much, I think you can guess why we won’t be seeing the same ensemble of characters for a sequel to a movie about the zombie apocalypse.
We can assume that the sequel will focus more on survival.
Because the sequel will take place four years after the original zombie outbreak, we can probably expect it to have more of a The Walking Dead feel to it. We can only assume that the characters in the movie had to find a way to survive with considerably fast zombies running all over the place. All we can do is speculate at this point because the only thing we have to go off of right now is the newly released movie poster.
It reveals very little however, besides the fact that is seems like Busan has become something like a wasteland. The only information it provides is the fact that we will be seeing a brand new cast. A few of the cast confirmed to be in the film are Kang Dong Won, Lee Jung Hyun, Kwon Hae Hyo, and Kim Min Jae to name a few. For now that is all we have to go on, and we’ll just have to wait until it is released to see what it’s all about.
