Here at PopWrapped, we like to give a special shout out to new artists! Whether we heard their latest sound at a beach party, saw them sneak in a live performance at the club, or just know them from way back when, we love sharing the latest and greatest sounds with you, our readers!
This newest track comes from the studio of my friend, TRISHES! Her latest single, “Day Jobs,” puts us in the mind of the every (wo)man. The people who wait every/other week for a paycheck from one or two minimum wage jobs, hoping to save up enough to pay for college, a new apartment, or just to pay the given month’s rent.
This is a wholly different sound from her previous Halloween track, “Ghosts,” and her previous single, “Swimming Pool.” This track is darker, more pensive, and forces the listener to think. We’re left wondering about what we ourselves are doing, and what it will get us in the long run. Is it our life’s dream, or just a means to an end? The sum achievement of our hours of schooling, or just a filler while we wait for the next phase of our life to start? Whatever the space, whatever the time, TRISHES’ latest puts you in the mood to take that next step.
Check out the chorus!
And we’re all working day jobs
Hoping one day they’ll pay off
Minimum wage ain’t enough
We keep working day jobs
I just wanna be somebody
Just want everyone to look at me
But I just keep on praying
Waiting, working day jobs
