Ah, the wonders of Donald Trump’s mouth.
The divisive front runner of the Republican Party for President seems to be picking fights everywhere. Not content with his opponents on the domestic side, whether it be in among the Democrats, Republicans or Independents, the billionaire seems keen to set his barbs on an international scale.
He could probably give Game Of Thrones‘ character Olenna Tyrell nicknamed Queen of Thorns for her arsenic comebacks, a run for her title. Maybe we should just crown him the new ‘Queen of Thorns’ right now. But of course Trump does have a sweet side towards international leaders, but it seems that you have to be an authoritarian dictator to get on his good graces.
The latest person internationally to fall victim to Trump’s thorny mouth is none other than London’s first Muslim Mayor, the newly elected Sadiq Khan.
The war of words began when Trump who has been vocal about banning Muslims in the United States had stated that the London Mayor may be the exception.
But Khan rejected the idea and spoke with the Guardian.
“The point I made about Donald Trump making me the exception was that there is nothing exceptional about me. What about my friends and family, what about business people who want to go and do business in America and happen to be Muslim? What about young people who want to be students in America and happen to be Muslim? What about people who want to go on holiday to America and visit Disneyland? The views of Donald Trump and his advisers on Islam are ignorant.”
Trump has struck back and called the Mayor “rude.” He then went on to suggest that Khan should take an IQ test.
He even made a veiled threat by stating that he would remember “those very nasty statements.”
Khan’s response is more cordial, but he says he stands by his statement.
On Good Morning Britain, the London Mayor invited the Republican front runner to London to meet his family. “On your program I invite Donald Trump to come to London. Meet my wife and my daughters. Meet my friends and my neighbors,” he said. “Meet Londoners who are British. They’re Londoners; they’re Muslim.”
