We are less than a month away from Jimmy Fallon beginning his reign as the new host of NBC’s Tonight Show.
Fallon, who has been the host of NBC’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon since 2009, will be replacing veteran Tonight Show host Jay Leno on Monday, February 17th.
Fallon announced on Sunday at NBC’s Television Critic Association winter preview that actor Will Smith and Irish rockers U2 will be the show’s first guest and musical guest respectively.
February 17th will mark the first time U2 will appear on a Fallon hosted late-night show. Fallon said he had asked the band to be the first musical guest on Late Night five years ago but their schedule at the time did not permit them.
“When I first started, I tried to get U2 but they were doing a week on Letterman. I got the next best Irishman, which is Van Morrison, and he was my first musical guest. So now hopefully I have lucky times four.” Fallon said at the winter preview.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will debut on February 17th at midnight. The show will move to 11:30/10:30 PM central the following week.
