A now legendary gay kiss from 90’s film, 54 has been released online.

The film which starred a young Ryan Phillippe and Breckin Meyer, was based on Studio 54 in New York City circa 1970’s. The kiss was originally cut from the studio version, but was presented in a private director’s cut screening by Mark Christopher (director) according to Digital Spy.

The clip which has found its way onto YouTube, was uploaded in July but didn’t start really gaining attention until it was posted on the blog, My New Plaid Pants.

The clip shows the duo, shirtless, talking and smoking, with Meyer’s character consoling Shane (Phillippe) which leads to the kiss. Though it ends abruptly, Phillippe for one was not happy about it being cut from the movie.

“Artistically” against the changes that were made to the film, Phillippe explained that they, “thought we were making something like Boogie Nights because it was about a time of complete sexual abandon, but the studio watered it down,” he told Advocate back in 2010.

He continued, “They had Mike Myers from Austin Powers and Neve Campbell from Scream, so they felt they could make a mall movie out of material that was a lot more edgy and honest.”

“I did hear about that secret screening. I don’t know how big of an appetite there is for it, but I would certainly support a DVD release of that version. Breckin and I were a bit sad that nobody got to see us kiss.”

Well, it might not be the best quality Ryan, but we’ve now seen the kiss!
