Supernatural beings continue to surround us with witches, werewolves and ghost running amok our television and film screens. And next year, a new set of vampires will be making their way into our lives.
Vampire Academy, the best-selling book series by Richelle Mead, has been adapted into film and a new shorter trailer has hit the internet.
The story follows Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch), a half-vampire and half-human, aka a Dhampir. She is training to become a guardian to her best friend, Lissa Dragomir (Lucy Fry) who is a Moroi, what can be best described as a peaceful vampire. As Rose trains to fight against the Strigoi, the evil vampires, she falls into a forbidden romance with her mentor Dmitri (Danila Kozlovsky) – let’s just say we see how steamy things get in the trailer.
In the trailer, it looks like the struggle for power between good and evil becomes more apparent when Rose and Lissa return back to school. “Blood is family. Blood is pain. And blood is death,” Lissa proclaims. And when you mix blood, magic and teenage angst, you’re bound to experience some mood swings!
Directed by Mark Waters, Vampire Academy also stars Sarah Hyland, Olga Kurylenko and Dominic Sherwood. They will bite their way into theaters on Valentine’s Day of 2014.
