We haven’t heard much from the “A Thousand Miles” singer in recent years — or, at least, I haven’t, and I’m a pop junkie — but Vanessa Carlton is back with Liberman, which premiered last Friday (October 23).
This album has a folk/country vibe, minus one or two of the tracks, and it’s really good. Her vocals are both haunting and hypnotic, set with her trusted piano. Some songs, like “Unlock the Lock” and “Ascension,” are like lullabies, where the rest are like an old folk story set to music.
My favorite song on the track is “Operator,” which sounds like a rock song paired with just a piano. It’s stunning!
The whole album flows really well, though it’s a very different sound from the last time I listened to her. If you’ve kept up with her music, you’ll love it, and, if not, then this is a nice calming album you can chill to.
I give Liberman 3 out of 5 stars for originality and having the ability to calm this crazy Monday down.
Go check it out on Apple Music or Spotify!
