What We Know About The Veronica Mars Revival

Series creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell have been revealing details about a potential Veronica Mars revival. This is everything you need to know.

In 2016, Netflix brought audiences revivals of Full House and Gilmore Girls. During 2017, we will see a revival of Twin Peaks and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and another Arrested Development reunion will start production. With all these reboots, sequels, and revivals, many fans of the snark detective want to know when we will get more Veronica Mars. Here is everything we know about the potential revival.

During San Diego Comic-Con in 2015, TVLine discovered creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell had spoken about a possible movie sequel or limited series. Of course, Thomas was busy with iZombie, which he was at SDCC promoting.

This past summer, Kristen Bell was at Comic-Con for The Good Place and confirmed in an interview that she definitely wants to play Veronica Mars again. Bell spoke about how the audience has proven they want more through the massively successful crowdfunding campaign, but they are “not going to ask the audience to pony up for anything.”

Earlier this month, Rob Thomas shared more details during a Television Critics Association press tour. Elaborating on specifics, he said, “Kristen and I both want to figure out some way we could do a six-episode Veronica Mars mystery.” He all but confirmed that it will happen but didn’t know when that will be. Kristen Bell is contracted for The Good Place, and Thomas has a remake of Lost Boys in development with The CW. Thomas explained that network actors have outs in their contracts, if the network deems side projects to be non-competitive. “Would NBC consider a Veronica Mars thing on, like, Netflix non-competitive? We have not figured that out yet.”

As of now, we just need to wait for the right window to appear to get a Veronica Mars revival. In the meantime, let us know what you want to see in a limited run of new Veronica Mars adventures. Do you think the series needs more, or is it good where the film left it?
