Versatile Gideon King Is Back With New Album City Blog

The talented musician Gideon King is back with a new ensemble project, Gideon King & City Blog, introducing eclectic jazz culture to new listeners.

At this point, the talented and inspirational Gideon King doesn’t really need an introduction. As a well-known and well respected New York City based music composer, Gideon has brought more than his fair share of great music to the public. Not one to keep inside one specific genre box, Mr. King tries, and successfully I might add, his hand at multiple genres. From funk to pop to classical to rock to whatever he cares to try his hand at, one thing is for sure, Gideon King is one versatile musician.

With his newest album titled City Blog, this is one of the more ambitious albums to come out in recent memory. Featuring an epic line up of major jazz musicians like James Genus, Matt Penman, Kevin Hays, Willard Dyson, Donald Edwards, Donny Mccaslin, Andy Gravish, Grace Weber, Marc Broussard, Elliott Skinner, Saul Kurtz, Carolyn Leonhart, and Matt Powell. Needless to say, this is one impressive roster to work with.

Currently promoting the track entitled “City Blog”, the ensemble dubbed Gideon King & City Blog are set to get their listeners moving. This song is filled with jazz fusion goodness and is a perfect way for Gideon King to introduce himself to his new listeners. At over four minutes in duration, “City Blog” doesn’t overstay its welcome, and for many, this track is so good, it might be considered too short.

The thing I like best about Gideon King & City Blog is the amount of professionalism within the project, the fact that every song acts as both a history lesson and invitation into the eclectic jazz culture. Gideon successfully brings together an amazing group of well known musicians to shine a light on a genre that generally is left to a very specific audience, but by fusing together multiple genres with Jazz, Gideon has opened the door to a wider audience than before.

If you are looking for music to play at your next social gathering, or at home when attempting to get some personal relaxation time, this would be a great album for you to pick up.
