Merlin! Merlin’s beard! In the name of Merlin!

In case my wonderful use of wizard slang hasn’t gotten you excited yet, then this definitely will: they’re making Merlin into a movie! Woohoo!

Unfortunately, for fans of the BBC series, the movie will not be a follow up to the hit show. Even though, it would be great to see. The BBC series ended with Merlin still alive in the modern day waiting for the Once and Future Prat…King to return.

Warner Bros., who will be making the film, recently purchased T.A. Barron’s Young Adult series The Lost Years of Merlin, creating speculation that this movie might be based on the books. However, this could just be a giant coincidence and the film could have nothing to do with the books either.

Regardless, of what the movie’s about, a Merlin movie is getting made. And not only that but lovers of wizards and warlocks everywhere have further reason to rejoice. It was announced that the writing crew consists of at least one writer from Game of Thrones and one from Hanna. This almost guarantees a good script and at least one sequel if it all goes well.

So, I advise that everyone get their wands and spells ready in preparation for the return of magic once more to the cinema.
