Watch The Opening Death In MTV’s Scream Series

For those of you horror lovers who must be anticipating the MTV series Scream, here’s something to appease your appetite! MTV has released the first 8 minutes of the horror series set to air Tuesday, June 30th, and it includes quite a few Scream-infused moments to appreciate. Actress Bella Thorne plays the ‘it-girl’ Nina who finds herself targeted by the revamped killer, and pays homage to the opening death of Scream, similar to the Drew Barrymore death scene. It proves that MTV is willing to get bloody, setting the tone for the 10-episode season.

In this exclusive first look, the usage of horror is met with clichés and humor, like when a panicked Nina attempts to use Siri to call 911, and it responds with “calling Pottery Barn,” before getting back to the chase. It’s a solid opening for the series that pays tribute to the film while creating its own story… and if that’s not enough, you get a closer look at the new mask in action!
