Darren Aronofsky’s epic retelling of the story of Noah and the Ark is predicted to haul in quite the ticket sales this weekend.
The film, which stars Russell Crowe as the titular biblical hero, has already grossed $18,5 million from ticket sales in Australia, Mexico, and South Korea. That figure is going to be greatly increased this weekend when the film opens in nineteen other countries.
However, what is a good film without some form of controversy? Of course, when you have a book based on religious text, there is going to be some form of outcry.
Many feel like Aronofsky took too many liberties with the film, glorifying the heroism entertainment and distracting from the religious message.
Critics, however, tell a completely different story, as the film has received positive reviews from several film-goers and film experts, who praised its visuals and ability to tell the story of Noah in a respectful and exciting manner.
The film goes up against several blockbusters this weekend, but will no doubt arrive in the top tiers of the box office rankings come Monday.
