Philomena, starring Dame Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, is based on a real life story on how an Irish woman searches for her son that she was forced to give up.

It is also one of the year’s most highly anticipated films of the 2013 Award Season.

While multiple sources have stated that this film could be a huge frontrunner in this year’s Oscars race, the film’s production company, the Weinstein Company, is furious that its film was rated R.

The Classification and Ratings Administration gave the film an R for two non-sexual uses of the f-word.

Believing that the movie has potential to be a hit with the audience, the Weinstein Company states that the rating would hurt the film’s chances of being exposed to multiple generations.

“It doesn’t make sense why they didn’t do it here. It’s a wholesome movie that deserves to be seen by everybody,” an insider told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s not even Judi Dench’s character who says the word.”

The Huffington Post reported that the Weinstein Company will file an official appeal to reduce the R rating to PG-13.

The film already received strong reviews from multiple international film festivals and received the Best Screenplay Award at Venice International Film Festival.

Philomena will be released in New York and Los Angeles on November 22 before being released on November 27.
