Last Thursday on July 17, tourists and locals alike who witnessed the ceremonial changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace were given a pleasant surprise. The military band of the Irish guards regiment began playing their own rendition of the opening theme of the hit-fantasy series, Game of Thrones.
There is no official statement on whose idea was it to perform the famous music. But we could likely speculate that, whoever it was, they were likely inspired by the Queen’s visit to the set of Game of Thrones. Many fans of the show were disappointed that the Queen chose not to sit on the iconic Iron Throne. But knowing full-well what happened to the previous occupants it seemed more or less prudent. Although this performance does make up for it.
