Sometimes truly great things come from and be discovered through friendships, and even greater things can stem from one single moment that can change the trajectory of people’s lives. Both are true for North Carolinian quintet Weston Estate – Srikar Nanduri, Manas Panchavati, Tanmay Joshi, Abhi Manhass and Marco Luka – who have known each other since they were 14. A freestyle that came as a result of them enjoying a Playstation game has – since they officially formed the band in 2017 – gone on to see them rack up more than 24 million streams of their songs and sign a major label record deal with Arista Records/Sony Music Entertainment.

On the back of an immensely memorable live debut in 2018, where in their own words: “We were playing sad songs and there was a mosh pit. We somehow got a mosh pit out of high-schoolers at a charity event” – the group began experimenting with their sound, pulling ideas from their artistic influences including Frank Ocean and Daniel Caesar. The results – the millions of streams and their ever-growing fanbase – speak for themselves.

Their new single “Outside” is one that was made: “…at a time of uncertainty and naïveté in all of our lives.” The band add that the song: “…was an outlet for us to let go of our anxiety and have fun/appreciate the things that we have. The beachy guitar and the snappy drums work together to capture an effervescent energy that audiences can easily latch onto and fall in love with.” Asked about what the song represents to and for them, they explain: “After the growth we’ve had in the past 6 months alone, both personal and professional, releasing outside now means more than the warm energy it puts out. Rather, this song represents an overarching lesson that all of us have learned this year: to take advantage of all the opportunities we have right now and live our lives to the fullest while we’re still young. We don’t know where the future will take us, but we’re excited to take it on together, headfirst.”
