While on the search for its leading lady and the upcoming shooting this March, Deadpool has a working title: Wham! Mostly, these titles serve as references to certain elements in the movies, and the title is no exception. For example, Marvel’s used ‘Caged Heat’ for Iron Man 3 and ‘Freezer Burn’ for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
According to ComicBookMovie, in the original screenplay, penned by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, there was a scene that’s intended to poke fun at Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Wade Wilson says, “A little piece of me curled up and died the day this came out,” as it shows a Deadpool action figure with the mouth sown shut with blades implanted in his wrists. However, it pans out to Wade holding a Music From the Edge of Heaven LP record by Wham! On that particular scene, Rhett says that Deadpool was a big Wham! fan, “but their late album turned out really poorly; so that’s kind of the joke.”
The movie is set to come out next year in February.
