There has been a lot of speculation about whether or not White Collar will be picked up for another season. After that cliffhanger with Neal’s abduction in season five, fans have been on the edge of their seats, biting their fingernails and wondering what’s going to happen next.

As of now, USA Network is looking to wrap up the series with a six-episode final season. According to Dateline, the amount of episodes seem to be a compromise between a movie/mini-series that USA had been been considering.

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but the word is that the network and series producer Fox TV studios are finalizing the deal.

During season five, the series had moved up to the fall lineup for the first time since season one. However, even going against the “in-season” competition, its ratings were still strong with the season finale in January.

It would cost the network a lot of money, which “might not have made a lot of sense for USA,” but it is “the best critically received series,” and is obviously very well-received by its audience.

Having said that, it certainly deserves a proper send-off for the beloved characters, like Neal, Mozzie, Peter and the rest of the gang.

We’ll be crossing our fingers!
