The Broadway favorite which premiered in 2003, based on the best selling book ‘Wicked’, is coming to the theater as a feature movie and will hopefully be out by 2016. The play has been running since its beginning and is currently the 11th longest running Broadway play. It’s also one of the best selling shows in history!
There’s no word on the cast, but fans will probably hope for original cast members like Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. Will Menzel have time for Wicked when she’s busy with a Frozen sequel? Maybe her ‘Glee‘ daughter Lea Michele can take the part. It’s all speculation at this point, including the release date which has been quoted as a “loose goal.”
Producer Mark Platt told Film Divider, “Yes. But, it’s not set in stone. The process of developing that movie has begun, we’re working on it, and whether it makes 2016 or not, I’m not so sure.”
