Many fans of Anchorman are waiting for the return of San Diego’s favorite newsman, Ron Burgandy (Will Ferrell), in the much anticipated sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues, but could a third film be in the works already?
When Ferrell attended the GQ Men of the Year party last Tuesday night (Nov. 12), he told E! News that there is a possibility it could happen. “I’m sure they would,” he said, “but I don’t know. We just want to see what happens with this one and we’ll sit down and access all of that. Right now, we’re just enjoying this journey.”
Anchorman 2 isn’t set to release until next month on December 20th so it makes sense that there isn’t any solid plans on a third film. But if it does go through, there is also a possibility that Academy Award winning actress Meryl Streep may appear since she couldn’t appear in the sequel. “We got it on good authority that she wanted to be in the movie, but when we sussed it out it couldn’t happen for one reason or another.”
Alongside Ferrel, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Vince Vaughn, and Christina Applegate are set to return to reprise their roles. Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, and Tina Fey will also be lending their comedic chops to the film as well. “It’s kind of a big deal.”
