The City That Sailed has been on the table for 20th Century Fox for a few years, originally slated to be directed by Francis Lawrence, who directed I Am Legend and Will Smith, was also set to star in the movie. However, the movie never got to production, perhaps because Lawrence went on to direct Water For Elephants and all of the Hunger Games films.
Four years later, we have the same star, but a different director, ready to take on the project. The City That Sailed will be directed by Shawn Levy. This fantasy adventure film will be a relatively new direction for Levy to take, as he has previously directed comedies like The Internship and Night At The Museum.
The City That Sailed will be about a New York street magician whose daughter lives in England. The daughter finds magical candles and wishes to be reunited with her father, which causes the entire island of Manhattan to float to England.
We’ll let you know as soon as we know more about the project!
