In the sci-fi universe  not much beats the approval of Captain James T. Kirk himself and Star Wars Episode 7 director, JJ Abrams, has finally gotten that. Though William Shatner had once called Abrams a “pig” for taking this job while working on the revived Star Trek franchise, he thinks he’d do a wonderful job.

At the time Shatner had said, “JJ is probably the most talented director of that ilk that we have, but he’s gone too far this time.” But having recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly Radio, he sang a different tune. “JJ is a terrific director and he gives you a great ride. He knows how to make the movie large with special effects and everything. And that’s going to be wonderful.”

He added, “It’s going to be wonderful for both franchises. He certainly has enlivened Star Trek. I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s going to do because he’s going to do something different that’s for sure”.

Admittedly, Abrams received some flak from critics for taking the job of Star Trek’s rival franchise. However, the dust has now settled and there’s general consensus that he would do a great job. I mean, even Shatner thinks so! “There are very few people who can make those kinds of movies, to have the sensibility. He’s got a lot of wonderful people around him. He’ll make a fabulous movie”
