Wolverine Screenwriter Drafted To Rework Fifty Shades Script v2

NULL

Managing Editor

It appears that the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey has hit another roadblock. First star Charlie Hunnam picked up his toys and left before the production before filming had even started. With filming set to start at the beginning of November, this resulted in a frantic search for a new Christian Grey. That was resolved with the casting of Jamie Dornan. However, the cast changes have resulted in a delay to the start of filming, which has now been pushed back to the beginning of December. Now is has come out that the script is in need of revision. Is anyone else getting the feeling that this film might never see the light of day?

The Wolverine screenwriter, Mark Bomback, has been hired to “polish” the erotic novel’s screenplay, according to The Wrap. Bomback is described as “Universal’s go-to script doctor”, having provided his services in reworking their upcoming Dracula reboot as well as the more recent Fast & Furious films. With a background primarily in action films, Fifty Shades of Grey is a slight departure from Bomback’s usual fare. Though he’s not completely inexperienced in the field having penned the script for the 2008 sex club thriller, Deception.

There has been no word on how much massaging the original script requires or whether it will impact the current August 1 2014 release. Somehow I don’t think this will be the last issue that the film will face before its release. Stay tuned for more developments in the ongoing saga.
