A Return To Amity? Steven Spielberg Comments On Jaws Remake

Steven Spielberg commented about a possible Jaws remake when asked about new films he’d like to direct with Amblin Partners (formerly DreamWorks).

First of all, would anyone (including Spielberg) even dream of remaking this classic film?  There are so many questions to ask.  Who could bring Hooper, Brody and Quint back to life?

This is a question the internet has been asking for years, and there is no good answer.

Luckily Steven Spielberg, the ultimate decision maker on the fate of a Jaws sequel, answered this very question.  Now that he’s with Amblin Partners (formerly DreamWorks) and heading back to Universal, he commented when asked about film remakes. “I would never remake one of my own movies — starting with Jaws,” Spielberg said. “But there are Amblin titles in the library that could inspire new stories that were made popular by the films.”

He even repeated himself to really bring home that fact that Jaws can never be redone.  Thank goodness!

Breathe a big sigh of relief Jaws fans.  None of us wanted them to touch this film or even make another sequel.  Jaws the Revenge was enough to deal with.  Where would they even go next if they tried?

For now, Quint will RIP and Brody and Hooper can continue their lives.  For fun, if you had to pick new actors for a Jaws remake, who would you choose?
