Writers Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris are reuniting and teaming up with Simon Kinberg for X-Men: Apocalypse.
Dougherty and Harris previously worked on X2 in 2003. They have not worked on an X-Men film since. Kinberg is one of the writers for the upcoming, X-Men: Days of Future Past. He previously worked on X-Men: First Class and X-Men: The Last Stand.
Apocalypse was announced early this month by director Bryan Singer. Singer is also no stranger to the X-Men universe, having worked on X2, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Apocalypse is a mutant who claims to be the first one and seems to be immortal. He was known as “The First One” and lived by a philosophy that “the strong will survive.” The movie looks like it’s along the same vein as Days of Future Past, which brings together the First Class and original X-Men casts.
As a fan of the X-Men films, I’m looking forward to Days of Future Past and Apocalypse, due in part to the writers and the possibility of a mixed cast. Let us know what you think in the comments below!
It’s still early, so there are a lot of unknowns. That hasn’t stopped them from giving us a release date of May 27, 2016.
Until then, here’s the trailer for Days of Future Past to hold you over.
