The Met Restores 350-Year-Old Painting By Charles Le Brun

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC was recently charged with the difficult task of restoring a 350-year-old painting by Charles Le Brun.

Charles Le Brun’s painting of “Everhard Jabach and His Family” was finished in 1660, and hundreds of years later it was in need of a little help.

The daunting task fell to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Everything is explained in a fascinating video, which talks through every intricate and nerve-wracking step, from laying the paint down to varnishing.
