Brandon Mills Premieres New Single, “Glistening”.

After four years in the marines, putting out an EP in 2018, and now winning us over on The Bachelor: Listen To Your Heart”, Brandon is giving us a brand new track, “Glistening”. & It is absolutely stunning and very much worth the 2 year wait. PopWrapped has your exclusive first look at “Glistening” out May 29.

My time on LTYH was nothing short of special. Despite all the chaos and expected reality show conflicts, I had so many more beautiful memories than challenges. The biggest take away from the show was the follow on opportunity to operate from a deeper place of empathy and compassion, to lead with love, not only for myself but also for the people who openly opposed my “character” from the show.” Brandon told us.

I met 23 of the most talented and humble musicians through this project. Hard working, loving, gifted human beings, many that will be friends for life. I plan to do collaborations with some of them in the near future. I also became more exposed to what true stage chemistry needs to be, and how to honestly expose myself during a performance through deep authenticity and vulnerability. The show transformed me only for the better, as a man and musician.”

After four years in the marines, Brandon found himself with a strong desire to rediscover himself, rebuild, and repair broken/damaged aspects of his life. Spending time traveling and working for non profits around the globe, he had no idea what kind of impact it would have on his mind, body, and soul. & that’s where this rediscovery had to take place.

“After four years serving in the Marine Corps as a Reconnaissance Marine and deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan, I left the military with a strong desire to rebuild, restore, and repair.  Not only myself, but my fellow human.  I spent time traveling the world working for non profits and orphanages around the globe, attempting to spread love and truth and healing. I had no idea what kind of impact it would have on my mind, body, and soul.  What began as a desire to give back, became a self reflective journey between my head and my heart.

One stop along my global exploration was the small town of Bethlehem. Bethlehem is the birthplace of one of the most well known and celebrated renegade warriors for freedom and love in human history.  It was in a small dorm room, overlooking the same hills that a young David spent time as a shepherd before his rise to power as King, that the song “Glistening” came to life…

As a result of my passion for self reflection and purity (as I saw it through the lens of my young eyes), I was celibate for over a year at this point.  I had such a strong desire for a relationship with a love interest, but spent most of my time reading, writing, serving, and growing in my spirituality instead.  This song spilled out of me one night, the muses in full effect, as I sat on the floor and day dreamed of what a romance could be with the right partner.”

“Fade back to sleep, dream a while, as I sing, about what life has in store…” sprung from a place of constant optimism, a consistent longing for my future relationship to be one of ever expanding love, excitement, and passion.  “Speak to me my sweet one, tell me exactly what you’re thinking of…” solidified my strong desire to make clear communication, rooted in radical honesty and trust, be at the forefront of this relationship.  “Who am I, oh my, who am I…” On one hand a statement of such humility and joy, that a partner of this caliber would find love and courage in me, and on the other a realization that a true partner who sees us, really sees us, also reflects what we need to work on, in order to be a better lover and friend.

I’ve come so far since this song was penned that night, and yet in so many ways I remain the same.  My hope is that these words resonate some form of universal longing that we all crave: that we see fully and be fully seen by our partners.  That we maintain optimism in the face of adversity and challenge, for ourselves and one another.  And that we perpetuate reverence for the ones that stick by us, with all our faults and failures, and choose to love anyways.  Intense love doesn’t measure, it simply gives.

Simple, Authentic, Unique, all words to describe Brandon’s discography. Leaving his audience with a direct connection to the audience that they know and love. “I’ve always been attracted to simplicity and authenticity when it comes to music. I want to be moved by the vocal performance and another instrument. I love the raw emotional response from a story told well, complimenting the melody with conviction. We’ve all heard songs and experienced other forms of art that transform us, that take us to a new place of curiosity and self reflection. My hope is that “Glistening” takes the listeners to a place of hope as they absorb the track in all its rawness.”

Lastly, we asked “What message do you hope your audience (& new listeners) receive from this track? & what can we expect from your next album/ep?

“This new EP is an honest look into my journey of simplicity and honesty, while also stretching past many of the “genre” labels that are becoming ever harder to define as I grow and evolve as a musician. There are hints of honest reflection from past relationships as well as my struggle to find peace after my combat tours. This project is my journey to find a balance between my role as a warrior and lover, on the frontlines of growth and the challenges and victories that come from being vulnerable and authentically human.”
