One would think that being a December baby is wonderful since it’s the holidays and peace and goodwill toward men, blah, blah.
We get it.
If you’re like me, it’s actually quite hard, especially if your birthday just happens to be near the more important holiday birthdays, aka Baby J and the New Year.
Most of the time, people need to be reminded that we have birthdays, too.
Pls don’t forget.
If anyone has ever told you that December babies get double the presents, that person is absolutely wrong. With a capital W. Blasphemy. People tend to combine the Christmas present with a birthday present, and it makes us shed many tears of sadness.
It’s my BIRTHday, jeez. Don’t make me any more sad than I already am.
Note: if you have a December baby friend, do NOT do this or prepare to be unfriended. Like immediately.
Then, when you actually want to celebrate your birthday, it’s often overlooked (thanks, baby J), and, most of the time, school’s out for the holidays or people are simply too damn busy with their own lives.
And the people you want to celebrate with the most are away for family reunions or holiday vacations, so you end up with your mom and maybe your grandma. Then, over the years, you become apathetic and eventually come to hate your birthday.
If you’re lucky enough to make plans, it’ll most likely be held next year only to be forgotten, again. And, no, I won’t combine this special occasion with Christmas or New Years!
No truer words have been spoken.
On the plus side, at least you’ll be surrounded by future decorations you didn’t have to spend on.
Shout out to all the other December babies out there, and may you all get the presents and parties you deserve because — well, you flipping deserve it after all these years.
And of course, happy future birthday to me. #LoveYourself
Pls.
